GUNUNG MANDALAGIRI - PANGAUBAN CI MANUK
Daerah aliran sungai DAS Cimanuk berada di Jawa barat/nusa jawa girang, secara administrative DAS ini meliputi Kabupaten Garut, Kabupaten Sumedang, Kabupaten Majalengka dan Kabupaten Indramayu.
Hulu sungai Cimanuk berada di Gunung Mandalagiri kecamatan Cikajang Kabupaten Garut Jawa Barat dan bermuara di Laut Jawa tepatnya Kabupaten Indramayu.
Daerah sungai Ci Manuk di sebelah barat berbatasan dengan daerah aliran sungai citarum, sebelah selatan berbatasan dengan sungai cikandang, cisanggiri, cipalebuh, dan Cikaengan, dan pada sebelah timur berbatasan dengan DAS Ciwulan, Ci Tanduy, dan Cisanggarung, serta sebelah Utara menyat dengan laut Jawa.
Beberapa gunung yang memberikan suplai air terhadap sungai Ci manuk diantaranya, Satuan Gunung Papandayan Guntur, Satuan Gunung Masigit Kareumbi, Tampomas, Cikuray, Talaga bodas, Karacak, Seda keeling, Cakrabuana, dan Gunung Ceremai.
Penelusuran asal kata penamaan Ci Manuk diantaranya ditemukan pada cerita cerita rakyat yang berkembang di sekitar gunung Mandala Giri, bahwa konon dahulu kala di sekitar Gunung Mandala Giri (Cikandang) ada salah seorang prabu bernama Giling Wesi yang di kerangkeng dalam Kandang terbuat dari besi, Prabu tersebut ingin keluar dari kerangkeng tersebut, namun sangat sulit, kemudian datanglah se ekor burung/manuk yang menyelamatkannya. cerita itu seiring dengan mata air tertinggi blok angkap dengan nama Sumur Cimanuk. prediksi kedua penamaan Ci Manuk di curigai karena bentuk DAS ini menyerupai burung/manuk, dan prediksi berikutnya bahwa Ci Manuk pada awalnya adalah Ci Manu, yang dalam mitologi sebagai cikal bakal manusia.
Pangauban Ci Manuk Mulai di tetapkan tata ruang/wilayahnya dengan menggunakan metoda patanjala pada tahun 2011, kemudian dilaksanakan seren tahun setiap satu tahun satu kali, dengan puncak rangkaian acara seren taun yaitu ngawor di Muhara (Indramayu) yang dilanjutkan dengan proses "nyawang alam nu bakal datang" membuat program untuk satu tahun berikutnya.
