GUNUNG MANDALAGIRI - PANGAUBAN CI SANGGIRI
Ci Sanggiri (Ci/energi/cahaya/) Sanggiri, (Sang dan Giri) Sang/Syanghyang dan Giri adalah Gunung, jadi penamaan Ci Sanggiri diambil dari Syanghiyang Giri, penamaan ini erat kaitannya dengan sumber mata air tertinggi di Ci Sanggiri yaitu berasal dari Gunung Mandalagiri, dimana Mandala sendiri sering dimaknai tempat suci atau temat yang disakralkan/di keramatkan.
Ci Sanggiri merupakan daerah aliran sungai (DAS)/pangauban yang bermuara di Pantai Selatan Jawa, tepatnya Kec. Cibalong Kabupaten Garut Jawa Barat, Sungai ini berhulu di Gunung Mandalagiri tepatnya berada di Kecamatan Cikajang Kabupaten Garut Jawa Barat. panaratasan Daerah Aliran SUngai (DAS)/Pangauban Ci Sanggiri dilaksanakan pada tahun 2014 dengan mengambil mata air tertinggi yang paling timur yang berbatasan dengan DAS Cikaengan.
Secara teritorial Daerah Aliran Sungai (DAS) Ci Sanggiri di sebelah utara berbatasan dengan DAS/Pangauban Cimanuk, dan memiliki hubungan erat, karena satu Gentong Bumi,/ sumber air yang sama yaitu dari komplek Pegunungan Mandala Giri. di Sebelah barat DAS Cisanggiri berbatasan dengan DAS Cipalebuh, dan beberapa subdas Cipalebuh yang memiliki ikatan kuat dengan Cisanggiri diantaranya adalah Cikaso, dimana Cikaso satu gentong Bumi dengan Ciawi dan Ci Limbung yang merupakan Sub Das Ci Sanggiri. Di Sebelah Timur DAS/pangauban Cisanggiri Berbatasan Dengan DAS Cikaengan hulu/Girang dan Di tengah-Hilir berbatasan dengan DAS Cibaluk, Sedangkan sebelah selatan Ci Sanggiri bermuara langsung ke Samudra Indonesia/Hindia yang airnya mengikat berbagai benua.
Adapun beberapa Subdas (wahangan) Yang bermuara Ci Sanggiri diantaranya Ci Awi, Ci Limbung, Cibentang, Ci Sangkal, Citamiang, Ci Merak, dan banyak lagi yang belum teridentifikasi.
Adapun salah satu mitos yang berkembang di Ci Sanggiri adalah, bahwa air Ci Sanggiri dilarang masuk ke sawah, karena dapat menimbulkan rempag galengan/longsor, mitos ini mungkin saja, karena tingkat kecuraman sungai cisanggiri tinggi, sehingga larian air sangat cepat.
beberapa ikan yang ada di Ci Sanggiri diantaranya, Lubang, Udang, Menga, bogo, Nilem, kenek, kontol kolot, lele dan lain, adapun ikan yang sudah lama tidak ditemukan dan menurut riwayat orang sekitar pernah ada adalah ikan Hikeu (menyerupai ikan Mas/kumpay).
Secara Administratif DAS Ci Sanggiri berada di Sebagian Kec. Cikajang, Cihurip, Cisompet dan Cibalong Kabupaten Garut Jawa Barat.
